The girl next door: student dancer shares her story
Editor’s note: The student interviewed in this story asked to be named by her dancing name, “Mary.”. Red lights bounce off of velvet-covered walls, reflecting on mirrors and cascading down naked bodies, sweat and glitter mixing together. Upbeat synth-pop songs play loudly on the speakers, masking the clinking of shot glasses and the shouting of men.
A minority within the minority: Arab heritage intersects Hispanic culture
“Allahu Akbar” echoes off the stucco walls as a congregation of men bow before the imam reciting prayers to Allah. A separate room in the back of the mosque is used by a group of women dressed with multi-colored hijabs and chadors. As of 2010, there were 2,968 Arabs in the El Paso County, according to usa.com, representing 0.46 percent of the population at the time.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court heard arguments about whether Young should have been granted light duty at her job as a UPS driver during her pregnancy. Young sued UPS after the company refused to put her on light duty when her doctor said she shouldn’t lift more than 20 pounds.

Disguised as a traditional office building, the Hohenfels Education Center is a hub that can be used by Soldiers, their families and DOD civilians for all things education-related.
